They even cater to different niches of editing expertise and customer bases. While these two editing platforms look similar on the surface, they are drastically different in functionality. Premiere Pro is used by millions of professional editors around the globe, while Filmora is mostly used by novice editors. Premiere Pro is the industry standard in video editing, while Filmora is a beginner-friendly editor with a much lower learning curve. Filmora Pro is offered for a flat fee of $149, while Premiere Pro is offered for $20.99 per month. The effect and features offered in Premiere Pro are hailed by many video-editing professionals and are much wider in scope than Filmora. Premiere’s customer base is so large that the demand for specialized plugins gives rise to a wide array of third-party plugins that not only is greater than Filmora but also every other program in the industry. And this goes for almost every aspect of color correction, which greatly outweighs the offerings of Filmora. Premiere allows you to manipulate color via waveform, linear graphs, sliding scales, as well as color wheels. The text and titles offered in Premiere are defined by the customization you want as a user, which is much greater than that of Filmora. Filmora is designed specifically for new users and thrives when new users access the preset text, transitions, and effects. This is where Filmora wins hands down against Premiere. In fact, it almost feels like Filmora rips off Premiere’s interface, meaning that it is slightly lower in quality and functionality. This is the defining aspect of many editing programs, which is no different for Premiere and Filmora. ![]() Premiere Pro’s interface has been fine-tuned for many years. I recommend that you complete such projects in the earlier version, or switch to using the Lumetri Color effect. Without the Color Finesse plug-in, projects created with it in earlier versions of After Effects will not render as expected in After Effects 16.0. The Color Finesse plug-in is still available from Synthetic Aperture. More recently, After Effects has integrated the Lumetri Color effect (November 2015) and the Lumetri Scopes panel (April 2017) from Premiere Pro, which enable color grading and monitoring within the After Effects user interface, without needing to open a separate window. It helped fill a gap in the After Effects toolset, specifically a comprehensive set of color grading tools, including a vectorscope and waveform monitor. This is noted (towards the bottom) along with other new features and enhancements, here:Ĭolor Finesse was first distributed with After Effects 6.5 in 2004. As of the October 2018 release of After Effects CC (version 16.0), the Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse plug-in is no longer bundled with After Effects. ![]()
